Pinnacle Aerospace: Precision & Innovation at New Heights

Nestled within the vibrant Aspiria campus in
Overland Park, Ottawa University is leading
the way in innovative education. With deep
historical roots and a forward-thinking approach,
the university has created a dynamic space for
students and faculty alike. From cutting-edge
nursing simulation labs to a state-of-the-art
Physician Assistant program launching in
2026, Ottawa University’s presence at Aspiria
is transforming how education meets the
needs of a modern workforce.

Founded in 1865, Ottawa University has long been recognized as a pioneer in education. The move to Aspiria marked a strategic shift to better meet the evolving demands of its students and programs. We’ve been growing rapidly in Kansas City over the past few years, explains Chancellor Dr. Bill Tsutsui. We needed a modern facility that felt like a true college campus, with the right amenities to support both our students and our expanding programs. Aspiria was the perfect fit.
Ottawa’s programs at Aspiria reflect its growth in healthcare and technology fields. Nursing students hone their skills in fully equipped simulation labs, while future Physician Assistants will benefit from cutting-edge technology, including 3D anatomy tables and high-fidelity mannequins that can simulate complex medical scenarios. “It’s like walking into a real hospital,” Tsutsui says. “These tools offer our students invaluable hands-on experience in a low-stakes environment.”

With its open spaces, natural light, and
student-centered amenities, the Aspiria campus
creates an ideal environment for learning. “Our
students love it,” Tsutsui shares. “They can study
in the library, enjoy coffee on campus, and even
take a walk to clear their heads while surrounded
by fountains and green spaces. It’s a relaxing,
inspiring place to learn.”
Dr. Kevin Maret, Dean of Arts and Sciences,
echoes the sentiment: “We needed a campus
that felt like a community—a place where
students would want to spend time. Aspiria
offers everything they need, from covered
parking to nearby housing and dining options.”
The campus has become a key part of Ottawa
University’s recruitment strategy, drawing students
from across the country and internationally.

Ottawa University’s programs at Aspiria are
strategically designed to meet the workforce
needs of the Kansas City area. “We’re focused on
expanding healthcare and technology offerings,”
says Tsutsui. “These fields are essential for
the future, and our programs ensure students
graduate with the skills they need to thrive.”
Clinical rotations with major hospitals provide
nursing students with real-world experience,
while the MBA and healthcare management
programs cater to working professionals and
international students. “Our faculty are not just
academics—they’re practitioners in their fields,”
adds Maret. “They bring current industry
knowledge directly into the classroom.”

One of the hallmarks of Ottawa University’s
culture is its strong sense of community.
Faculty and staff are deeply invested in
the success of their students, creating a
personalized and supportive environment.
“We’re not a large research university,” says
Tsutsui. “Our focus is on changing lives
through education, and that personal
connection makes all the difference.”
Aspiria’s extensive amenities, including conference
facilities and on-site studios for video and
podcast production, have opened new possibilities
for Ottawa University. “It’s a place that grows
with us,” Tsutsui notes. “When we need more
space or want to host special events, it’s all
right here.”
As Ottawa University continues to expand its
presence at Aspiria, the future looks bright.
With strategic goals focused on healthcare and
technology, the university is well-positioned to
support the next generation of leaders in these
critical fields. “We’re proud to be part of the
Kansas City community,” Tsutsui says. “Our
mission has always been to serve, and Aspiria
gives us the perfect platform to do that.”
