Fostering Connection and Creativity

Beyond the physical environment, Learning Lab
is a place where students and educators connect
and grow. Kristin Bogner, Community Director
at Learning Lab, describes it as a home for
education entrepreneurs and micro-schools.

“We’re seeing a national movement where
parents and educators want more tailored
learning environments,” she says. “Learning Lab
provides a space for these innovators to test their
ideas and refine them in a supportive community.”
This support extends to students who might
not fit the mold of traditional schooling. Kristin
shared the story of a middle school student who
blossomed at Learning Lab. “She didn’t feel like
her old school environment was a fit, but here
she’s a leader. On her third day, she was using
our sewing machine to make bags for herself
and a friend. She’s even on our Student Advisory
Board now.”

These stories highlight how Learning
Lab creates opportunities for students to express
their strengths and passions.

A Vision for the Future

As Learning Lab continues to grow, its impact
is rippling beyond Wichita. The success of this
space has drawn interest from other communities,
inspiring conversations about expansion. “Could
Wichita be a blueprint for other cities?” Lydia
reflects. “We think so. The idea is to cultivate
something unique for each community while
sharing what we’ve learned here.”

Locally, Learning Lab is focused on expanding
its offerings and facilities to accommodate more
learners and programs. “We’re excited about
what’s ahead,” Lydia says. “Whether it’s growing
here or helping other communities, the future is
about creating more opportunities for students,
educators, and families.”

Learning Lab’s success lies in its ability to embrace
change and encourage collaboration. “We get to
see the mission in action every day,” Kristin shares
emotionally. “It makes working hard easy because
you see the impact right in front of you.” From the
energy of the students to the dedication of the
educators, Learning Lab is more than a place—
it’s a movement redefining what education can be.
