The west side’s most anticipated new pizza place is now open

(Wichita, Kan. Aug. 17, 2021) Wichita area commercial real estate development and management company Occidental Management, Inc. ranks 1,385 on Inc. Magazine’s 2021 Fastest Growing Private Companies in America list. This is the company’s eighth appearance on the Inc. 5000 list since 2011. The real estate group has continued to grow in 2021, improving from their ranking of 2,169 in 2020.
The list represents a unique look at the most successful companies within the American economy’s most dynamic segment—its independent small businesses. Occidental Management joins notable companies like Intuit, Zappos, Under Armour, Microsoft, Patagonia, and many others as honorees on the Inc. 5000.
Occidental Management Chairman and CEO Gary Oborny says the honor is confirmation of the hard work put into the company and community.
“Our business has evolved in many ways over the past few years with the acquisition and development in some fantastic, value-add projects in the Wichita and Overland Park communities,” Oborny said. “We are proud of the work we’ve done to renovate community-favorite venues like the Historic Union Station in downtown Wichita, Aspiria in Overland Park, and shopping centers like Tyler Pointe that help local businesses reach their customers in exciting and innovative ways.”
Since being included on the 2020 Inc. 5000 list, Occidental Management has invested in its properties as well as it is employees. Nearly doubling the team in the past 5 years has opened doors for the company. Occidental Management General Manager of Operations Chris Harmon says the honor belongs to the whole company.
“Our dedicated employees are what make this company run each day,” Harmon said. “The increase in ranking from last year proves that we are hiring the right people to provide quality, value-added services to our tenants. We believe in our team and look forward to welcoming in more of Wichita’s finest talent.”
Not only have the companies on the 2021 Inc. 5000 been competitive within their markets, but this year’s list also proved especially resilient and flexible given 2020’s unprecedented challenges. Complete results of the Inc. 5000, including company profiles and an interactive database that can be sorted by industry, region, and other criteria, can be found at www.inc.com/inc5000. The top 500 companies are featured in the September issue of Inc., which will be available on newsstands in late August.
“The 2021 Inc. 5000 list feels like one of the most important rosters of companies ever compiled,” says Scott Omelianuk, editor-in-chief of Inc. “Building one of the fastest-growing companies in America in any year is a remarkable achievement. Building one in the crisis we’ve lived through is just plain amazing. This kind of accomplishment comes with hard work, smart pivots, great leadership, and the help of a whole lot of people.”
Occidental Management will be honored in the August issue of Inc. and in the Virtual Inc. 5000 Vision Conference in October alongside the other honorees.

More about Inc. and the Inc. 5000
Methodology
Companies on the 2021 Inc. 5000 are ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2017 to 2020. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2017. They must be U.S.-based, privately held, for-profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2020. (Since then, some on the list may have gone public or been acquired.) The minimum revenue required for 2017 is $100,000; the minimum for 2020 is $2 million. As always, Inc. reserves the right to decline applicants for subjective reasons. Growth rates used to determine company rankings were calculated to three decimal places. There was one tie on this year’s Inc. 5000. Companies on the Inc. 500 are featured in Inc.’s September issue. They represent the top tier of the Inc. 5000, which can be found at https://www.inc.com/inc5000.
