PRESSCity Approves Mixed-Use Rezoning for Aspiria Project

 

Former Sprint World Headquarters Officially Rezoned for New Development  

(Overland Park, KS, Jan. 21, 2020)   Overland Park City Council unanimously passed the mixed-use rezoning request to move the Aspiria project into the next phase with a vote of 12-0 on Monday eveningThe approval adds to the project’s momentum on the path to a vibrant, live-work-play destination

Previously approved 9-0 by the Overland Park Planning Commission, the mixed-use zoning means nearly 60 additional acres of the 207-acre property will be transformed into a community destination and gathering place 

The existing campus will expand its already best-in-market amenities and will evolve into a welcoming, activated location, featuring Class A waterfront office space, a variety of retail and restaurants, luxury multi-family housing, sports and fitness facilities and ample green space.  

The preliminary development plan for the project includes nearly 2 million additional square feet of mixed-use space as well as a sustainable approach to making the three lakes, currently hidden, accessible to the public.  

Construction is tentatively expected to begin at the end of 2021 and leasing for the first office building is already underway with Hoefer Welker as the first official tenant at the new Aspiria development.
